The Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Grants Program is now open with funds of up to $15,000 available. Categories and funding include:
Community Capacity Building and Development – to increase the capacity of local community and respond to identified community needs. Will support the delivery of individual projects, programs and/or activities – up to $5,000. Priority will be given to projects, programs and/or activities which target one of the following priorities:
- The reduction of social isolation or disadvantage
- The enhancement of community wellbeing and safety
- The encouragement of participation in active citizenship and volunteerism, and;
- The encouragement of partnerships and collaboration between community groups.
Community Facilities Development – development and improvement of community facilities. Supports capital upgrades and improvements – up to $15,000. Priority will be given to applications that are able to demonstrate:
- Community need, and;
- Wider community benefit.
Community Events - supports new and developing local and regional events – up to $3,000 for local events and $10,000 for regional events. For local events, priority will be given to projects that:
- build and strengthen local community capacity and cultural identity, and;
- create linkages among local community groups and regional networks.
For regional events, priority will be given to projects that:
- demonstrate a professional approach to event planning and project management
- encourage tourism and showcase the region
- foster economic development, and;
- demonstrate planning for self sufficiency and event sustainability.
There are also interest free loans and grants for individual achievements.
Projects, programs and/or activities will be ineligible at the finalisation of their second year of funding from council’s Community Grants program and Priority may be given to projects, programs and/or activities that have not received a grant in the preceding 12 months.
